Jayreth Rivera, Art Therapy Intern

Jayreth Rivera has had a passion for supporting others and creative expression. This enthusiasm led her to pursue an education that merges these interests. Jayreth is set to graduate in May 2025 from Alberta Magnus University with a degree in Psychology, concentrating in Art Therapy. Alongside her bachelor's degree, she will also earn an Associate degree in Studio Art.

Over the past two years, Jayreth has actively engaged in various art therapy-related projects and internships, assisting in art therapy workshops for children and adolescents, volunteering at community centers to provide art-based mental health support, and participating in research on the benefits of art therapy for young people. Her commitment to working with children and her passion for using art as a therapeutic tool have driven her to make significant strides in this field.

Jayreth's ultimate career goal is to provide a safe and supportive space for individuals to express themselves creatively while receiving personalized counseling. She aims to work in settings that allow her to use art to enhance mental health and well-being, particularly focusing on helping young people navigate their challenges through therapeutic art.

In her role as a lead Fine Art creator at Phoenix Mental Health Solutions, Jayreth works as a co-facilitator, in art therapy and collaborating with a diverse and inclusive team. She is one of the creators of the Arts for Healing program, which has grown since its inception. She has also played a key role in organizing the Arts for Healing summer classes set to begin in the summer of 2024.

Jayreth is excited to continue her journey with Phoenix Mental Health Solutions, where she can share her skills and compassion, making a meaningful impact on the lives of her clients. Her blend of academic knowledge, practical experience, and heartfelt passion promises to enhance the lives of those she serves, one creative session at a time.
