Jayreth Rivera, Art Therapy Intern

Jayreth has long been driven by a passion for supporting others and expressing creativity. This dual interest shaped her academic path, leading her to pursue a degree that blends both. She graduated in May 2025 from Albertus Magnus College with a Bachelor’s in Psychology, concentrating in Art Therapy, and also earned an associate degree in Studio Art. She is now continuing her education by pursuing a Master of Arts in Art Therapy Degree.

Over the past two years, she has supported art therapy workshops for children and adolescents, volunteered at community centers, and contributed to research on art-based mental health benefits. Her dedication to using art as a therapeutic tool, especially for young people, continues to guide her work.

Jayreth’s long-term career goal is to create safe, supportive environments where individuals can explore their emotions and identities through creative expression while receiving personalized counseling. She is particularly committed to helping young people navigate their challenges through therapeutic art interventions.

In her role as Lead Fine Art Creator at Phoenix Mental Health Solutions, Jayreth serves as a co-facilitator in art therapy programming and collaborates with a diverse, inclusive team. She is one of the creators of the Arts four Healing program, which has continued to expand since its launch. She has also played a pivotal role in organizing the Arts for Healing summer classes debuting in summer 2024.

Jayreth is excited to further her journey with Phoenix Mental Health Solutions, where she continues to share her skills, creativity, and compassion. Her combination of academic knowledge, hands-on experience, and heartfelt dedication allows her to make a meaningful impact—one creative session at a time.

"You will usually discover that the creative process itself is truly the most healing part of any art therapy experience"
