Andrea Sims is an undergraduate student at the University of Rhode Island pursuing a degree in Music Therapy, with an anticipated graduation in 2026. Their passion for music began early, developing through formal training during high school at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, where they concentrated on vocal performance. This foundation allowed Andrea to refine their technical skills, deepen their understanding of musical expression, and gain experience performing in a variety of artistic settings—work they continue to build upon throughout their college career.
Andrea has worked as a paraprofessional in New Britain’s KEY summer program and served as a student teacher for the S.E.E. summer program. They have also volunteered with Altrusa International in Hartford and the Diaspora Multicultural Society, contributing to mentorship efforts, community drives, and youth programming. Currently, Andrea works with a range of clients at Hands and Harmony under supervision, leading sessions independently and preparing to serve schools and early intervention clients in the community.
Andrea is eager to continue growing as both an educator and a clinician. Their blend of musical training, experience with children, and dedication to community care guides their commitment to supporting young people of all ages through meaningful, compassionate, and creative therapeutic experiences.
