Andrea Sims, Music Therapy Intern

Andrea Sims is an undergraduate at the University of Rhode Island studying music therapy and
is set to graduate in 2026. They have been involved with music since high school, going to the
Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts to study vocal performance, and continuing performance
through college. Andrea has also worked in New Britain as a paraprofessional for young
children in the summer KEY program, and as a student teacher during the summers for the
S.E.E summer program. They have also volunteered for Altrusa International based in Hartford,
and at the Diaspora Multicultural Society, where there were opportunities to provide mentorship,
run community drives, and participate in youth programming. More recently, she has started
working with a variety of clients at Hands and Harmony, under supervision. They have led and
run sessions by themselves, and soon will be out in the community working with schools and
early intervention clients. She’s excited to continue her experience in teaching and supporting
children of all ages.
